BrainVoyager v23.0
Launching BrainVoyager
To start BrainVoyager, double click its name or icon in the installation folder using Explorer on Windows, the Finder on macOS or the respective file browser on your Linux distribution (e.g. the Files application on Ubuntu Linux). If an icon has been installed on the Desktop (Linux, Windows), you can also start BrainVoyager by double-clicking the icon on the Desktop. For quick access, it is recommended to place the BrainVoyager icon in the Dock (macOS), Taskbar (Windows) or Dash (Ubuntu Linux):
- macOS. To place the BrainVoyager icon in the Dock, drag "BrainVoyager.app" from the "/Applications/BrainVoyager" folder on the Dock; click the icon to launch the application. Alternatively, open the program in the "Applications/BrainVoyager" folder (or from Launchpad, or from a Terminal window), which will show its icon in the Dock as a running application. Now right-click / Option-click the BrainVoyager icon in the Dock and select the Keep in Dock item in the Options sub-menu of the appearing context menu. With this setting, the BrainVoyager icon will remain in the Dock when closing the program and BrainVoyager can be started from now on by clicking its icon in the Dock.
- Windows. Start "BrainVoyager.exe" from the "C:\Program Files\BrainVoyager" folder (or form the Desktop, or from the Start menu), which will show its icon in the Taskbar as a running application. Now right-click the BrainVoyager icon and select the Pin to taskbar item in the appearing context menu. With this setting, the BrainVoyager icon will remain in the Taskbar when closing the program and BrainVoyager can be started from now on by clicking its icon in the Taskbar.
- Ubuntu Linux. Although a BrainVoyager icon is installed on the Desktop, modern Linux distributions such as Ubuntu do not automatically allow a user to launch the program via the Desktop icon. In order to let a (double-) click on the icon launch BrainVoyager, you need once right-click the icon on the Desktop and select "Allow Launching" (or "Trust program" or similar). After this has been done, the program icon can be used to start BrainVoyager.
After starting "BrainVoyager" from its Desktop icon (or from a Terminal window, or by double-clicking its name in the intallation folder ("/home/[user]/BrainVoyager") in the Files application), right-click the icon appearing in the Dash (or Launcher and click theAdd to Favorites item (or similar) in the appearing context menu. The BrainVoyager icon will then remain in the Dash when closing the program and BrainVoyager can be started from now on by clicking its icon in the Dash. If this does not work, use the icon on the desktop.
After launching BrainVoyager, its graphical user interface is shown and the user can create, load and interact with various neuroimaging documents.
